EL (English Learner)
RESOURCE ASSISTANT I
BASIC FUNCTION:
Perform a variety of duties at a high school in support of English Learners, including organizing and administering the testing process, inputting results into SASI for site, District, State and Federal reporting requirements, and communicating with students and parents, and site and District staff concerning assigned function and according to District policies and procedures.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The EL Resource Assistant I classification performs a variety of organizational and testing duties in support of English Learners at a school site.
Incumbents in the EL Resource Assistant II classification perform more complex and diverse duties related to English Learners at the District level.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Individual positions may not perform all of the duties listed nor do these examples include all responsibilities of positions in this class.
Coordinate EL assessments, placement and documentation, and oversee appropriate services for English Learners. E
Coordinate location and time for administration of appropriate language and achievement tests, e.g., CELDT, SABE, PLAS, SOLOM. E
Administer portions of tests as trained and certified by Multilingual/Multicultural Office, or coordinate administration of test by others. E
"Bubble" test forms as needed so as to avoid reporting errors; box and send completed tests to Testing and Evaluation Office for scoring. E
Accurately record student assessment results, demographics, and other data in the computer for use in ML1, R30, Immigration and other site, District, State and Federal reports.
EMonitor progress of reclassified students per CCR guidelines, notifying parents and counselors as appropriate. E
Communicate with students and parents, and site and District staff concerning assigned function and according to District policies and procedures.
EReview, file and keep current confidential EL documentation in individual cum files. E
Attend Multilingual/Multicultural Office meetings to keep informed of changes to forms, reports and test administration. E
Assist site administration with ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee) meetings as necessary. E
Perform a variety of clerical duties including ordering supplies and materials.
Perform related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to:
high school diploma or equivalent and responsible clerical experience. Bilingual preferred.
