- The staff Certified Nurse Midwife is responsible for the diagnosis, care, and treatment of patients.
- Provides independent, preventative, and therapeutic obstetric and gynecological care.
- Practice independently to the full extent of midwifery scope of practice and in collaboration with physicians for high acuity cases.
- Provide emergency care on labor and delivery as required in collaboration with the healthcare team. First assist in cesarean sections as needed.
- Provide initial newborn examinations and assessments immediately after each delivery. Consult with on-call pediatrician as needed for complicated, high-acuity and emergent cases.
- Work in close partnership with other members of the healthcare team including nursing and other clinical providers
- Certified Nurse Midwives are all members of the Medical Staff and will be credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee.

This position is located within the Medical Staff Division, with the Navajo Area Indian Health Service. The incumbent has responsibility for providing clinical services not limited to general women's health, pregnancy, and newborn infant care.
Duties
