About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced F5 Network Engineer with Azure expertise to join our IT team. This role requires a deep understanding of both F5 network technologies and Azure cloud networking to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability of our network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

· Configure and manage F5 BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM) for load balancing, traffic management, and application delivery.

· Implement and manage Application Security Manager (ASM) and Advanced Firewall Manager (AFM) for enhanced network security.

· Design, implement, and manage F5 appliances and network solutions within the Azure environment, including Virtual Networks, VPNs, ExpressRoute, and Azure Load Balancers.

· Optimize network performance in both F5 and Azure environments by tuning settings and monitoring network traffic.

· Develop and apply iRules within the F5 appliances.

· Monitor Firmware releases and apply updates to include performing quarterly STIGs.

· Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex network issues across both F5 devices and Azure network services.

· Use automation tools and scripting (Python, Perl, Shell) to streamline network management tasks in F5 and Azure.

· Collaborate with other IT teams for network design and implementation; document network configurations and changes in both F5 and Azure environments.

· Stay updated with the latest developments in F5 technologies and Azure networking to ensure the infrastructure is up-to-date.

Required Skills & Experience:

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

· Minimum of 8 years of experience in network engineering, specifically with F5 technologies and Azure cloud networking.

· Must have IAT 3: CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH, CCSP

· F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator certification or equivalent is highly preferred.

· Must have one: Microsoft Server 2016/2019 certification or Azure certification.

Certification in Microsoft Azure (such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate) is desirable

· Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

· Demonstrable technical analytical and critical thinking skills.

· Proficiency in current Microsoft server operating systems, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, Internet Information Services (IIS) 8.5 and 10, PKI and other authentication methods, Microsoft Hyper-V, Domain Name Server, and Active Directory.

· Knowledge of Ports and Protocols, Cloud Services, and Backup Services.

· Extensive experience with on-premises to cloud and cloud-to-cloud migrations.

· Ability to respond quickly to work requests or technical issues, and dive deeper if the answer is unknown.

Skills:

· Strong understanding of F5 products (LTM, GTM, ASM, AFM) and Azure networking services

· Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS) and network security principles.

· Experience with automation and scripting in network environments.

Additional Requirements:

· Ability to obtain a security clearance if required.

· Willingness to be on-call for emergency situations.

· Ability to liaise with the government's Information Assurance/Cyber Security Program Manager and Network Enterprise Centers for DNS entries and firewall/network configuration.
