has an immediate opportunity for a

Quality Engineer

at

our

Burns Harbor

facility in the

Hot Rolling Quality Assurance department

.

The

Quality

Engineer

is responsible for

supporting

t

he daily quality activitie

s

,

being the

liaison for the qualit

y

department

with the slab yard, hot mill and hot mill finishing and shipping departments.

This will include

performing audit

s

,

investigating mixed steel situations,

setting

and relaying quality stan

dards

to

the hot mill finishing and shipping department

s

,

and dispositioning hot

roll coils.

The ideal candidate

should

be self-motivated

, work well with other departments

and thrive in a fast

paced work environment with

complex operations

.

The position will r

equire

a

significant amount of walking

in a mill en

vironment.
Summary of Responsibilities

:

Reviews

hot mill data inte

grity issues with operations

.

Conducts

mixed steel meeting

s

and drive the process

to

minimize cases.

Hot mill quality group liaison

with PA for Genesis and Daneli OCR projects.

Leads reprocessing team

to reduce the number of hot

band

coil retreats.

Performs product and shipping audits

to ensure the integrity of shipped products.

Sets quality standards for the hot mill shipping group

.

Disposition

s

hot rolled

coil

s

to ensure usable products for internal and external customers.

Complies with

Cleveland-Cliff's quality, safety

,

and environmental standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in

an

Engineering

technical field

.

Three (3) years'

p

revious experience in an industrial, or related environment.

Good verbal and written communication skills

.

Must be familiar with the Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel,

PowerPoint

and Access)

and SQL.

Interpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively within a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

Willing to

travel to processors

to review product quality.

Preferred Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree in a Material Science background.

Demonstrated success in defining and resolving problems.

Strong

analytical

and statistical ski

lls.

Exceptional attention to detail.
