    Job Summary:

    The Director of Quality is a key leadership role with the responsibility of positioning the Quality department as a strategic partner to the business units it supports and will lead a team of quality managers to build a customer-focused quality culture.

    The Director of Quality will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating quality programs that are part of the Quality Charter to ensure the organization's operations from raw materials to finished products, meet the quality, integrity, and efficiency standards set by the organization, industry, and customer contracts.

    The Director of Quality will lead all efforts associated with ensuring compliant products are released to customers free from defects and with expected or better performance.


    Essential Functions:

    Demonstrate strong working knowledge of performance-based testing to help develop and implement projects as part of the Quality Charter through the quality team and other internal stakeholders to continually improve the overall quality of products, processes, and services to customers.

    Dedication.

    Maintain an awareness of changing material specifications (aggregate, liquid AC, Hot Mix Asphalt "HMA", concrete - in all forms) such that quality department is aware and compliant with all state and industry initiatives and acquires industry knowledge of technical advances in facility operations (e.g., binders, RAP, emulsions, rejuvenators, admixtures, etc.).Respect and engage.

    Interface with customers, suppliers, partners, and internal stakeholders regarding quality in both the plant and at customer/supplier locations. Facilitate quality audits and inspections as appropriate.

    Communicate with DOT personnel and inspectors, plant operators, project superintendents, sales representatives, and project staff to coordinate schedules, review submittals, review project testing and reporting, and to negotiate material quality and/or placement issues to a positive resolution for all parties.

    Measurement.

    In accordance with project specifications, actively coordinate, oversee and ensure that all required lab testing across regional facilities and projects are completed according to applicable standards to ensure all finished products are in conformance with job specifications and submitted to approving agencies in a timely fashion.

    Innovation.

    Manage and oversee creation of mix designs to increase flexibility of Company HMA facilities and aggregate sources to provide materials in multiple states and DOT Regions.

    Ownership and caring.

    Oversee the scheduled maintenance, repair and upgrade of laboratory equipment to ensure material testing laboratories meet or exceed required standards.

    Results matter. Innovate and drive enhanced reporting on facility, laboratory, and placement performance for senior management review. Use reporting to help enhance efficiency and enhance pay factors and bonuses.
    Honesty and truth.

    Evaluate and develop the performance of the Quality Team to facilitate performance feedback, develop talent for successorship or broadening experience with lateral assignments.


    Position RequirementsRequirements, Education and Experience:
    1.

    Bachelor's Degree required and preferably with material testing and performance evaluation certifications years of progressive career experience with at least 10 years preferably in hot mix asphalt, aggregate, liquid asphalt, concrete and quality control.3.

    The ability to identify, evaluate, and implement cost effective resolution of complex quality issues arising in product design, materials, and production processes.4.

    Intimate knowledge of HMA placement techniques, troubleshooting and dispute resolution experience with state agencies.5.

    Strong understanding of asphalt mix designs and aggregate quality control, knowledge of all aspects of paving, HMA plant properties and mix designs.6.

    Has been in roles leading quality teams and quality professionals, proven managerial experience.7. Proven ability to effectively solicit, develop, organize, and communicate ideas, recommendations, and project status.8. Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and travel as necessary.

    Travel:


    Position may require up to 50% travel by personal vehicle to company facilities and project sites throughout the states of New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island based on the needs of the business.
