    Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

    Moog Space and Defense Group- Actuation and Avionics Business Unit is recruiting for a Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer to join the team in East Aurora. The Sr.

    Quality Assurance Engineer has sole responsibility for the planning, implementation, and administration of Quality Programs to assure that a system is in place which will meet or exceed contractual quality requirements and provide the required level of protection to Moog and its Customers.

    The Sr. Quality Engineer must assure optimum utilization of manpower resources in achievement of corporate and divisional production objectives.

    Key Responsibilities

    Inspection Planning:

    Develop complex production & development inspection plans for receiving inspection, manufacturing, assembly & test, engineering procedures, and first article inspections.


    Quality Planning:
    Planning, development, implementation, and administration of cost effective and complex Quality Programs.

    These activities require the development of traceability plans, contamination plans, configuration control plans for hardware and documentation, and the development of other written plans for customer approval.


    Contract Compliance:

    Assure compliance with contractual issues for complex programs relative to quality, including coordination of customer, government, regulatory agency audits, and flow-down of contract requirements to suppliers and appropriate Moog disciplines.


    Project Engineering:

    The Senior Quality Engineer performs varied technical tasks which are non‐routine such as product improvement studies, process improvement studies, and development of new systems & procedures.

    These studies require the mastery of analysis techniques such as SPC, regression, statistics, and Design of Experiments.

    Training:

    Train and educate functional groups in the areas of Statistical Process Control, Gauge Variation, Designed Experiments, and Program specific contractual quality requirements.


    Program Support:

    Provide technical assistance to Manufacturing, A & T, Vendors, Customers, and other Engineering disciplines in the resolution of fabrication, and field related problems.

    This support typically requires the application of a creative approach to complex problem solving.

    Failure Analysis & Corrective Action:

    The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible to conduct complex Failure analysis by utilizing his organizational, technical knowledge, analytical and communication skills.

    The end result is to find the root cause and implement closed loop corrective solving.

    Personnel:

    The Senior Quality Engineer provides technical direction to two or three Quality Assurance technicians and/or a Quality Engineer or Associate Quality Engineer and may prepare and administer their performance reviews after concurring with the Quality Engineering Supervisor.

    The Senior Quality Engineer may function as a group leader.

    Cost Estimates:
    Prepare complex quality assurance proposals and related cost estimates.

    The Quality Engineer must respond in a timely manner to requests for quotation, estimates to complete, and manpower loading estimates for departmental budget planning.

    Key Skills

    B.S Degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering)
    6 Years Experience in Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality
    Knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001
    GD&T experience
    ESD and FOD awareness
    IPC Workmanship Awareness
    Lean/Six Sigma experience (certification preferred)
    Root Cause Analysis

    Minimum Requirements:
    Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or an equivalent engineering field. 6 years' work experience in an Engineering related role. Capable of interpreting engineering drawings and instructions, along with customer flow downs. Experience in relevant industry standards such as AS9100 and ASME Y14.5.

    Experience working in an electronics lab environment and understand all the protocols for handling electronic hardware and test equipment such as ESD and FOD.

    Must have previous exposure on handling product or processing of non-conformances. Experience working in process-oriented environments that deal with mission critical products.

    Actual salaries will vary depending on many factors such as skills, experience, certifications and performance. The rate listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
