    Project Manager - Asphalt Paving - DOT - Utah

    Job Summary: Provide overall management direction for existing DOT Transportation (Asphalt Paving and Structures) projects and develop new business opportunities relative to a particular client, group of clients, geographical area or type of project.

    General Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Visualize, fulfill, and implement the vision and core values.
    • Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals and other documents to prepare time, material, equipment, production and labor costs for asphalt and grading contracts.
    • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy.
    • Review Hot Plant reports, crusher reports and job reports.
    • Monitor/control construction through administrative direction of on-site Superintendent to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
    • Consult with clients, vendors, sub-contractors and others to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
    • Manage financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, etc.) to protect company's interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with Client.
    • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements.

    Technical Skills

    • Understand HMA, SMA, OGSC Asphalt mix designs.
    • Work with QC/QA to make changes to crushing operation and Hot plant operations to maximize productivity.
    • Maximize crushing operations with proper equipment use.
    • Thorough understanding of materials specifications. State Spec / Federal Specs.
    • Preferable worked in portable crushing and / or hot plant environment.
    • Work with Area Manager to develop estimates and complete pit exploration.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • 5+ years of progressive experience of Asphalt Paving in a Project Management or Quality Control Management role.
    • Federal Contract and DOT Specification experience preferred.
    • 5-7 years in a similar position preferred.
    • Civil Engineering/Construction Management Degree or equivalent work experience a plus.

    • Individual must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
    • Willingness and ability to travel to remote job sites throughout the western region (Utah, Idaho, Nevada).
    • Basic knowledge of construction industry
    • Good organizational skills
    • Ability to work towards and reach deadlines
    • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
