    Position Information

    Reporting to the Chief of Staff/Chief Financial & Administrative Officer (COS/CFAO) within Student Affairs, the Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive program of marketing and communications initiatives, strategies, high-profile events, and communications support for the Student Affairs Organization. This multifaceted position entails developing and executing innovative marketing and communications campaigns, including social media management, enhancing brand exposure and awareness, and leading external engagement with campus guests and community stakeholders to elevate Student Affairs. The incumbent will coordinate all aspects of high-profile events planning and implementation, and ensure adherence to UC and UCR policies and procedures.

    The salary range for the Director, Marketing and Communications is $71,100 - $128,700 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

    Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

    As a university employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.



    Education

    Education Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. (Required)
    • Master's Degree (Preferred)


    Experience Requirements
    • 4 - 7 years of related experience. (Required)
    • Experience working within the University of California system. (Preferred)


    Minimum Requirements

    Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications. Knowledge and understanding of technical applications to effectively direct technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications. Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short term strategic communications plans. Solid written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political acumen skills. Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to the target and/or broad general audiences. Knowledge of location protocols and channels for communication internally and externally.



    Preferred Qualifications

    Knowledge of the organization, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices, infrastructure, and a strong knowledge of current affairs, and issues in higher education and/or health sciences.
