The job of Clerical Support Staff at Alcona Health Center involves welcoming and assisting patients, answering questions and providing information creating an atmosphere that is caring yet efficient. The role also includes operating the phone system to relay incoming outgoing and interoffice calls scheduling appointments for multiple sites maintaining health records according to established health center procedures checking patients in and out of the health centers greeting visitors determining the nature of their business referring visitors appropriately maintaining waiting room safety informing Safety Officer entering new patient data into EHR verifying insurance assuring appropriate authorizations have been received upon check out verifying accuracy of providers charges accepting payments processing billings and payments preparing nursing home billings for monthly visits responsible for return of slips from providers matching daily batch report to schedule ensuring all patients seen have a corresponding charge answering patient questions regarding accounts documenting all conversations regarding account in notes making necessary corrections refiles or postings in Receivable module as needed verifying balancing all entries at end of day by printing daily batch report deposit slip sending accurate daily deposit via designated site at end of day reviewing medical records completeness accuracy verifying with personnel as necessary retrieving health records as requested training clerical staff in health record processing activities scheduling patient appointments contacting patients rescheduling appointment reminders confirming demographic information sending new patient enrollment packets prior first appointment sending no show letters referring appropriate referring ACH care case managers assists clinic staff tasks within scope practice such as processing referrals collection issues setting up medical consultations reschedules patient load providers schedules follow up appointments operates telephone paging system answers telephone responds inquiry directing caller appropriate personnel operates paging system relaying announcements calling individuals phone makes collections calls requiredJob description
