The selected candidate will be responsible for managing an existing analytical lab as well as supporting raw material/final product testing, troubleshooting chemistry related issues, and running scale up activities for new products in the attached high volume manufacturing facility.
The selected candidate will also act as the interface between R&D located at DuPont's experimental station located in Wilmington, DE and the Parlin HDM manufacturing facility.
HDM's product line is broad, consisting of photosensitive coatings, standard non-photosensitive coatings, high temperature adhesives, optically clear coatings, and a full line of complementary ancillary products.
Job Responsibilities:
Manage existing analytical lab – Lead, improve, and maintain functionality of current lab (includes removing obsolete/unused equipment). Arrange for repairs of equipment as needed. Order materials needed for work in the lab. Keep lab area neat and safe for operation.
Support development and implementation of new analytical test development and technologies.
Act as interface between R&D and manufacturing team for new product development.
Support scale-up of new products to manufacturing by working with plant engineers, R&D, and QA/QC, and technical service to plan and execute new product production.
Support analysis of raw materials, in-process chemistry and finished material. Gain understanding of basic synthesis methodology and analytical procedures. Assist in documentation of processes.
Support manufacturing and QA/QC groups when problems arise with raw materials, standard production, and customer complaints. Includes interacting with suppliers on known or new quality issues.
Understand basic chemistry involved in operations and provide first-line support to operations (manufacturing and QA teams) when troubleshooting production deviations.
Additional interfacing between experimental station and Parlin IO groups includes:
Ensure data transfer packet from R&D complete for scale up of new products in manufacturing.
Communicate changes made at experimental station that could potentially impact Parlin quality management system.
Support requests related to testing (raw materials or final product) necessary to support plant operations.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
BS in Chemistry or similar technical degree
Experience with organic chemistry
Experience in analytical lab setting (5+ years preferred) particularly in troubleshooting, continual improvement, method development, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and start-up of advanced analytical instruments.
Ability to understand the quality standard relevant to industry requirements (i.e., ISO 9001:2015) and the controls necessary to achieve and maintain compliance within the standards as appropriate.
Able to interface with R&D group and translate to manufacturing for scale up and execution.
Ability to present ideas in a clear, succinct, and compelling manner in both individual and group situations.
Delivers clear and succinct oral and written messages with the ability to make complex messages clear both internally and to suppliers/customers.
