Description
OverviewVermont Psychiatric Care Hospital (VPCH) has an opening for a Quality Director.
This Executive level position will develop and maintain systems which will ensure successful program design and high-quality delivery of care.
The VPCH Quality Director is responsible for maintaining the licensure, regulatory compliance, and Joint Commission accreditation of the Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital (VPCH) elements critical to the funding and ongoing operation of the facility.
*Starting rate may be negotiable based on experience and qualifications.This position will report directly to Chief Executive Officer.
The majority of the duties and workflow is independently determined based on incumbent's expertise, review, and analysis of current trends, hospital/facility processes and events, and interactions with regulatory agencies.

Duties are performed primarily in office settings and incumbents will routinely interact with patients experiencing serious mental illness, who present with various levels of risk to self or others - assaultive behavior, elopement risk, self-harm; and may be exposed to infectious diseases and caustic detergents.
The Quality Director is solely responsible for numerous high-stake deliverables and subject to a multitude of pressures which may result in high levels of stress.
The incumbent will lead many short- and long-term, complex projects that will require sustained attention and vigilance to ensure completion.
There is very little margin for error as any deficit in the above listed elements of performance put hospital licensure and accreditation at potential risk and may incur financial penalties, citations, injunctions, etc.
The mental effort required for this position is immense.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in healthcare or human services related AND five (5) years or more of experience in hospital, healthcare quality, or risk management experience INCLUDING two (2) years or more of psychiatric care experience.
Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont AND five (5) years or more of professional, hospital, healthcare quality, or risk management experience INCLUDING two (2) years or more of psychiatric care experience.
Preferred QualificationsMaster of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Master's degree in healthcare or human services related field.
One or more of the following certifications:
Psychiatric Mental Health Registered Nurse (PMHRN) certified
Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)
Certified Joint Commission Professional (CJCP)
Health Care Quality and Management (HCQM) certified
Patient Safety credential (CPPS) certification
Special Requirements
Nurse incumbents must maintain Vermont licensure as a Registered Nurse OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license as a condition of employment.
Successful completion of a physical examination that includes movement and weightlifting testing, provided at a DMH preferred clinic, is required for this position.
