    Job Description

    Ambulatory Surgery/


    OR RN:
    Part Time (24 hours/week)


    Performs initial and ongoing assessment on all assigned patients, including a review of systems, as evidenced by appropriate documentation.


    • Completes Admission Assessment in time frame established, according to Policy and Procedure.
    • Establishes plan of care in timely manner, according to Policy and Procedure based on findings of initial assessment.
    • Documents appropriate chart records reflecting modification of the Plan of Care according to patient response or changing needs.
    • Documentation reflects patient's progress toward desired outcomes/goals.
    • Plan of care includes anticipation of potential problems based on knowledge of disease process.
    • Insures appropriate patient preparation as well as timely completion of chart prior to
    surgery, special procedure, transfer, or discharge.


    • Administers medications and treatments as ordered by the physician and in accordance with
    Policy and Procedure. Seeks input from Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse or Clinical Nurse

    III/IV when unfamiliar with treatment, medication, or procedure.


    • Establishes nursing care priorities and delegates accordingly. Sees that assignments are
    carried out as indicated in a timely manner.


    • Reports pertinent observations and nursing actions to Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse.
    • Notifies physician, in a timely manner, of any pertinent physical or emotional findings and documents appropriately.
    • Evaluates and documents the patient's response to nursing and medical intervention in accordance with Policy and Procedure.
    • Maintains constant awareness of potential safety hazards to patients, assuring necessary safety precautions are implemented.
    • Reassesses patient according to unit-specific policy and procedures; makes changes as necessary; and documents appropriate information in patient's chart.
    • Anticipates and responds to changes in patient's condition, based on knowledge of disease process.
    • Performs other job-related duties within job scope as requested by Supervisor.

    Qualifications


    Education:



    • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.


    Licensure/Certification:



    • Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Florida
    • BLS/ACLS required


    Orthopedic Experience Preferred*
