    Description
    Overview
    Provides laboratory services to meet the needs of patients performed in accordance with accepted standards and practices.

    Directs, supervises, and coordinates functions and activities in any or all divisions of the clinical laboratories.

    Responsibilities

    Directs, supervises, and coordinates technical functions and activities in any or all divisions of clinical laboratories.

    Allows 80% of time to direct supervision.

    Provides leadership in following and enforcing department policies and procedures.

    Takes fair and appropriate action in relation to enforcement of departmental policies.

    Prepares work schedules, assigns personnel, evaluates work performance, and makes recommendations for personnel actions.


    Communicates regularly with the laboratory director to exchange information and updates and to encourage a team management approach to problem solving.

    Communicates with other departments to provide and promote a team concept.


    Maintains the latest CAP standards as related to Quality control, Procedure manuals, Performance Improvement, and equipment maintenance, and ensures that they are implemented and followed.


    Maintains the highest level of personnel performance to ensure a high quality test result by providing a standardized orientation and training program as well as an annual competency program.

    Qualifications

    Education:
    Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or a related science is

    required .


    Experience:
    One year supervisory experience prefered. A minimum of 5 years' experience in all sections of the laboratory is required.

    Additional Skills/Abilities:

    1) Certified as Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist by either ASCP or AMT.

    2) Must have good oral and written communication skills.

    3) Understands quality management and quality control.

    4) Proven ability to write procedures and manuals.

    5) Ability to delegate and direct processes.
