Description
SUMMARY
The Environmental Emission Engineer is responsible for mapping processes associated with CO2 generation and other environmental emissions, contributing to the development of corporate emission reduction strategy, targets and associated projects and contributes to corporate wide sustainability strategy and programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
Collaborate with Continuous Improvement and Manufacturing Teams to develop and maintain mapping of processes contributing to CO2 generation and other environmental emissions.
Collaborate closely with Sustainability Projects Manager and Manufacturing Sites to support development of projects to reduce CO2 generation and emissions from Westlake facilities.
Build reliable, efficient data capture capabilities to gather and analyze data to support sustainability efforts and reporting
Participate in internal and external audits of sustainability information
Analyze and understand existing and new sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI, SASB, CDP, TCFD, etc. and direct compliance efforts
Monitor external developments and new strategies around CO2 reduction, emissions reduction and sustainability topics
Implement and become an expert with any corporate-sponsored sustainability software
Assist corporate communication function in preparation of annual ESG report
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
BS Degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering/Science or related discipline
5 years minimum experience in manufacturing and/or sustainability
Ability to understand chemical manufacturing processes, determine and map key emissions information and identify CO2 reduction opportunities
Knowledge of sustainability reporting requirements and data collection systems
Strong collaboration, facilitation, organization, interpersonal and computer skills, with a good working knowledge of related databases and applications, and excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Capable of developing and managing multiple projects
Exhibits positivity, passion, integrity, and accountability
Able to work in a team-oriented environment and lead team projects and collaboration

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is sometimes moderate when working in an office, however, some of the work may be required in the operating units which mandates usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.
