Job Description:

Radiology Technologist

Performs quality assurance on images and ensures proper transfer to PACS while completing the exam efficiently
Chooses the correct radiation exposure factors following ALARA principles
Uses radiation safety practices and lead protective devices correctly
Controls access to radiation exposure areas

JOB SUMMARY

Verifies patient identification and requested procedure
Confirms patient's pregnancy status
Evaluates patient's risk for allergic reactions to medication before administration
Checks lab values before medication administration
Explains medication effects and potential side effects
Prepares and administers contrast agents
Monitors patient for medication reactions
Assesses patient vital signs as necessary
Provides instructions on exams and procedures to patients
Educates patients on radiation risks and benefits
Positions patients for exams based on comfort and ability
Performs QA on images and ensures timely transfer to PACS
Selects appropriate radiation exposure factors following ALARA principles
Uses lead protective devices and radiation safety practices correctly
Obtains and prepares supplies for radiological procedures
Provides post-procedural instructions to patients or families
Complies with regulatory requirements
Staff Training/Orientation: All staff members participate in new employee training

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Preferred 1-3 years of radiology experience

EDUCATION: Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology school

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Current Montana Radiology Technologist license and ARRT registration required
