    Position SummaryThe Finance Associate works with our Finance Manager and other staff to support non-academic operations at the organization, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and requirements set by funders and partners.

    They are specifically responsible for supporting the administrative systems and routines of the organization. The Finance Associate is responsible for the accounts payable process, cash receipt process, and the management of financial documentation.


    Note:

    This is a hybrid role based in NYC, which will require a minimum of two days on-site at alternating school locations located in Inwood (Upper Manhattan), Kingsbridge, and East Harlem.

    Role is heavily focused on Accounts Payable duties.
    Essential ResponsibilitiesProcess all invoices in the accounts payable system ensuring accurate coding of the invoices to the proper account.
    Reconciling credit card statements.
    Process staff reimbursements.
    Ensure invoices have proper approval & required documentation before entering invoices into the accounts payable system.
    Connect with the school's operation team or leadership team to obtain missing information needed to process payments.
    Maintain finance archive files and records in accordance with School and regulatory requirements and practices.
    Research vendor & school inquiries regarding payments.
    Ensure compliance (W-9s received) with federal and state regulations, governing payment to vendors including companies or consultants.
    Responsible for accurately receiving, verifying, coding, data entry, and deposits of miscellaneous cash receipts.
    Collecting money from schools and processing bank deposits.

    Monitor and properly document the following:
    fixed assets accounting transactions; prepaid expense and accrued expense transactions; property and equipment records.
    Properly tag all grant-related expenditures.
    Assist with the annual audit process.

    Minimum Experience and QualificationsHigh school Diploma or GEDKnowledge of Quickbooks or a similar accounting programStrong command of all Microsoft Office and Google Suite programs.

    Ability to prioritize and manage multiple obligations and initiativesStrong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
    Outstanding communicator with clear and concise written and oral communication skills.

    Organizational, planning, and analytical skills.
    Completion and pass pre-employment Fingerprinting and Reference check processLegally eligible to work in the United States.
    Perform other duties as assigned.
    Preferred Experience and QualificationsAssociates degreeExperience working in an urban charter school network or another mission-driven, impactful non-profit organization.

    Work is being performed in a traditional multi-floor school environment with limited to no elevator access.

    Work Schedule12 month work scheduleCompensationAmber Charter Schools strictly follows a salary schedule for each role to ensure our continued commitment towards pay equity.

    The expected salary range for this role is $58,500-$67,000 depending on verified relevant work experience, highest level of completed education, and required certifications and/or licenses for the role.

    This is a non-exempt position.
