Job Description

The maintenance technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all plant equipment. This includes all scheduled preventive and unscheduled demand maintenance and necessary repairs to ensure no downtime or interruption of production.

Duties and responsibilities

Basic qualifications:

• Experience with basic electrical systems (starters, fuses, contacts, relays)
• Experience with electrical systems (frequency drive, troubleshooting)
• Experience with product manuals (reading and applying knowledge)
• Experience in reading mechanical drawings (hydraulics, pneumatics)

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain an organized and clean work area
• Communicate the need to order supplies
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed by Management
• Perform any demand maintenance repairs as required or assigned
• Follow all safety processes and procedures to ensure no injuries to self or to others
• Perform all preventive maintenance work as scheduled for all processing equipment
• Maintain and update maintenance records in the HIPPO CMMS (computerized maintenance management system)
• Operate and manage the equipment maintenance efficiently to assure safe operation and with minimal interruption of production

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Welding
• Ability to build control panels
• Proven mechanical experience
• Five years (5) prior maintenance experience
• Ability to prioritize work schedule and multi-task
• Strong reading, writing, and problem solving skills
• Ability to design control panels and refurbish old one
• Industrial experience (If so, certification must be provided)
• Mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills
• Ability to effectively communicate throughout all levels within the company

Plus:

Prior Maintenance experience in a large food manufacturing operation.

Experience with the following equipment:

• Multihead Weighers such as Yamato & Ishida
• Vertical Form & Fill machines such as Hayssen, Bosch, Ilapak and Triangle
• Experience with high speed production packaging equipment
• Experience with pumps (troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors)
• Experience programming and installing frequency drives on equipment
• ABL equipment (apple slicer, melon peeler, fruit cutter, washers, pepper corer)
• Experience with mechanical systems (gear boxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings)
• Experience with PLC Controls, AC & DC motor controls, solid state motor controls, Servo motors and advance circuits and grounding.

1. Ability to bend, stoop, climb, and lift overhead
2. Ability to manipulate cutting tools such as knives and mandolins safely and effectively
3. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
4. Must be able to work safely and effectively in confined spaces
5. Ability to operate processing machinery
6. Must be able to stand for long periods of time
7. Must be able to work in very cold environment for extended periods of time
