    Description
    The Sr Interventional Radiology Technologist coordinates daily activities and schedules for the special procedures component of the Radiology department to ensure effective and efficient patient services. Assists the interventional radiologist in the performance of complex diagnostic and therapeutic angiographic procedures.
    Education
    • Associate's degree required or
    • One to three years formal training in an AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology required
    Experience
    • 1-2 years progressively more responsible job-related experience in the performance of angiography and other complex radiological examinations.
    Licenses and Certifications
    • Must have passed American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) examination and be ARRT certified.
  • Functions as senior resource/team leader, coordinates ongoing work flow and activities of staff level radiologic technologists, nurses, and ancillary support personnel. Establishes work schedules and staff assignments to ensure appropriate 24-hour coverage.
  • Performs and/or assists in all angiographic and interventional imaging procedures as well as myelography, arthrography, and venography. Schedules patients, prepares and positions patients, equipment and supplies needed or each procedure. Uses immobilization devices and radiation protective measures during the operation of imaging equipment. Evaluates radiographs for technical accuracy and quality.
  • Utilizes physical assessment skills, monitoring devices (pulse, respiration, blood pressure, EKG), intravenous care and aseptic techniques in providing patient care.
  • Provides input for and/or recommends personnel actions including performance appraisals, merit increases, and promotions for assigned personnel. Resolves minor grievances and may recommend disciplinary action when necessary.
  • May serve as educational resource and/or coordinate student/staff instruction. Participates in quality assurance activities and provides liaison support between physicians, technical staff and department management.
  • Reviews and makes recommendations for revision of policies, procedures, and/or regulations. Distributes and/or implements changes and revisions as necessary.
  • Provides input regarding budget preparation, and makes recommendations for equipment and supply purchases.
  • Collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory adherence.
  • Establishes and maintains productive communication networks in the department and Hospital-wide.
