    Position Summary:

    The Kansas Veterans' Home in Winfield is looking for individual's interested working as a Licensed Practical Nurse on 2nd shift. This is a full-time position with benefits and retirement. The hours for this position are 2:45 pm-11:15 pm 5 days per week. We pay a highly competitive wage for LPN's plus 10% shift differential.     Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

    Administer medications and treatments, completing required documentation, complete required document in resident and medical chart, report to RN supervisor as needed, assess needs of residents, monitor response and document, answer call lights and provide assistance, monitor performance of a small group of CNA's, serve as charge nurse of a specific unit during shift, check residents to assure their safety, cleanliness, and comfort.

    Qualifications:

    Education :

    High School diploma or equivalent and completion of Licensed Practical Nurse program.

    Licensing & Certification :

    At the time of appointment, the selected candidate must possess a Kansas license/temporary permit to practice by the Kansas Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

    Minimum Qualifications :

    Preferred Qualifications :

    1) practical nursing theory and practice, 2) patient bedside care and understanding of fundamental human needs, monitoring equipment/devices utilized for medical protocols in long-term care settings, 4) anatomy, physiology, developmental psychology, and sociology.

    Ability to: 1) follow oral and written directions, and to prepare and maintain records, charts, and reports, 2) maintain a helpful and sympathetic attitude toward patients and to maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees, 3) apply nursing techniques delegated by physicians or professional nurses, 4) follow established policies and procedures, and 5) respond to patient needs in emergencies or life threatening situations.
