    We are currently looking for an Industrial Engineer to join our dynamic, fast-paced, and growing team. The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for applying engineering principles to plan production space to result in efficient completion of large steel fabrications and heavy equipment. Production space planning will include consideration of material movement through facility space using cranes up to 200-ton capacity and self-propelled hydraulic trailers. The position will also support development of material handling plans involving graphical assessment of product movement through the facility space. Participation in efforts to develop similar content for new proposals may also be required.
    What You Will Be Doing

    • Apply the knowledge of engineering principles to develop spatial layouts for awarded work.
    • Monitor changes in project schedules, determine if spatial layouts meet demand, and develop solutions for spatial conflicts or deficiencies.
    • Use 2 or 3D CAD software to prepare spatial arrangements and material handling process graphics.
    • Maximize efficiency within the manufacturing facility by analysis of equipment layout, assembly methods, and workforce utilization.
    • Conduct time studies, collect data, and drive action to identify where non-value-added activities occur.
    • Independently identifies process gaps and recommends and implements process improvement.
    • Institute changes independently and effectively; Change Agent.
    • Read and interpret project submittal drawings and specifications.
    • Provide support and coordination to the operations team, factory, and field personnel as needed.
    • Develop production floor build aid and fixture solutions when needed.
    • Additional duties as assigned.
    Your Background
    • Associate's degree in a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • 0-3 years related experience required.
    • Continuous Improvement background a plus.
    • Six Sigma Certification preferred.
    • Strong general computer skills including working knowledge of email, MS Office, and similar software.
    • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor/SolidWorks.
    • Knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles (TAKT time, KANBAN, PDCA, cell designs).
    • Experience with Process mapping and value stream mapping.
    • Strong spatial aptitude.
    • Experience leading teams.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to travel as required.
    The Work Environment at Rhoads
    • The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.
    • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, and driving in an automobile
    • May require walking and standing on irregular, uneven surfaces in an industrial setting and possibly at increased heights climbing and descending ladders and ship stairways.
