    Join Our Team as an RN in the Definitive Observation Unit (DOU)

    Shift/Hours:

    Night Shift: 7:00pm - 7:30am

    Holiday/Weekend Requirement:

    • Holidays: Rotating Holiday
    • Weekends: Every other weekend

    On Call Requirement:

    • None

    Responsibilities:

    • Accurately interprets patient's cardiac rhythm strips.
    • Notifies physician of any changes in patient's cardiac rhythm.
    • Manages patients who are stable on ventilators in collaboration with the respiratory therapist and physician.
    • Manages stable hemodynamic monitoring.
    • Effectively engages patients, families and/or significant others regarding the plan of care, short and long term goals, progression toward goal achievement, including discharge planning.

    Must Haves:

    • License: Current California RN license
    • Certification: Current BLS, ACLS and PALS provider cards
    • Experience: Minimum 1 year acute hospital experience required. If no previous/recent DOU or Step Down experience, candidate would need to complete a transition program.
    • Education: Associate's degree in Nursing (ASN) required

    Preferred:

    • Certified in field of specialty (CCRN, PCCN, Trauma) and Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred.
    • Cardio-Vascular (Interventional), Trauma Care and Pediatrics experience preferred.
    • NIHSS certification preferred.

    About the Unit:

    • Number of Beds: 30 beds
    • Patient Population: Cardio-vascular patients, including care of post interventional patients and post open-heart patients. Stable pediatric patients aged 3-16 years including some trauma, gastroenteritis, and pulmonary diseases. Competently cares for ICU overflow patients and functions independently when floating to the ICU.
    • Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:3
