    Description
    The Charter Township of Shelby Parks, Recreation and Maintenance Department is now accepting applications for Summer Recreation Playground Aide.


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Minimum age 18 years old. Must have previous experience working with children ages 5-12 years old. Applicant must be willing to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED training, which will be provided by the camp. The hourly wage for this position is $13.33 per hour, no benefits.

    Applicants should be available for the entirety of the camp, 35-40 hours/week, Mondays - Fridays between the hours of 8-5pm June - August.


    GENERAL FUNCTION:

    Under the direction of the Summer Day Camp Director and Assistant Director and adhering to the licensing guidelines set forth by the State of Michigan, playground aides in this program will provide care for youth ages 5-12 years old in a state-licensed daycamp setting.

    Individuals should possess extensive knowledge and prior experiences in arts and crafts, sports, games, and field trip supervision.


    JOB DUTIES:
    Comply to all policies set forth by the State of Michigan and Shelby Township Parks & Recreation, & Maintenance Department

    Complete and submit all necessary paperwork relating to program as directed by State of Michigan guidelines

    Work as a team alongside Director, Assistant Director and other Playground Aides to plan, coordinate, implement, and direct daily activities within the camp setting

    Develop working relationship with supervisors and other staff members

    Assure youth participant safety with close monitoring

    Create and maintain open lines of communication with all participants' parents/guardians

    Strive to establish strong relationships with all Summer Recreation campers to ensure a high-quality program experience,

    Institute appropriate disciplinary action if required

    Ensure a fun, active and engaging experience for the Summer Recreation youth participants.

    Fill out necessary program paperwork in a timely manner, meeting all required deadlines

    All other duties as assigned
