    GENERAL PURPOSE:

    Effectively advise account executives as to what types and sizes of signs are allowed, where the customer is located and assist them to resolve issues with ordinance requirements. Prepare permit applications as required in each jurisdiction and attend any hearings for conditional or special circumstance as needed. Talk and negotiate with planners about signs that do not meet the specified ordinance.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepare permit applications;
    • Submit applications and pick up approved applications;
    • Research sign ordinances;
    • Prepare conditional use, variance, and zoning applications;
    • Talk with planners concerning odd properties, buildings, and signs to find a resolution to the customer's needs;
    • Post approved permits and fees to jobs;
    • Attend conditional use, variance, zone change, and historical site meetings
    • Coordinate FAA approvals
    • Coordinate with public works for necessary lane closures
    • Facilitate encroachment approvals and permits
    • Facilitate pedestrian safety and minimize path obstruction
    MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Accompany account executives to meetings with customers to discuss signage needs;
    • Attend official meetings;
    • Assist or advise cities that are making changes to their sign ordinances;
    • Give basic permit training to new account executives;
    • Other clerical duties as assigned
    NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:
    • Interacts daily with employees in the office to discuss and resolve customer issues and business matters.
    • Interact with city officials to apply for and receive permits, as well as discuss any issues with ordinance requirements
    TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:
    • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A High School Diploma or GED and 5 years or more of related experience and/or training; or any combination of education, experience.
    • COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Accounting software; Payroll systems; Order Processing systems; Database software and Contract Management systems
    • LANUAGE SKILLS: Ability to communicate in person and electronically. Ability to read and interpret documents such as city ordinances. Ability to write out sign applications and correspondence.
    • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and length, distance, width, and area.
    • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to read and interpret blue prints and engineering.
    PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS:

    Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit for long periods of time; use computer to enter data; use telephone to converse with customers and employees; perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement. The employee is regularly required to: talk, feel the attributes of objects, grasp, push, and reach with arms or hands. The employee must be able to occasionally move objects up to 15 lbs. Specific vision abilities include: clarity of vision at 20 inches or less; and ability to adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
