**Description**

**JOB SUMMARY**

The Buyer/Planner evaluates suppliers on prices, quality of products and average shipping times, and decides from which ones to make a regular purchase. The Buyer/Planner researches, evaluates, and purchases services, supplies and equipment based on price, service, quality, and warranty to meet the needs of the Company. Completes Sales Order Entry to generate Job Order paperwork and release to production floor. Assist in Quote Costing for new business opportunities.

**REPORTING TO**

Materials Manager

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS.**

Order raw materials and products to meet production requirements while adhering to company policies and procedures

Send suppliers RFQs for competitive bids

Ordering & expediting MRO supplies

Monitor and maintain inventory levels and safety stocks with Materials Mgr.

Complete ownership of purchasing process from PO placement to delivery

Open PO maintenance, follow-up and actions with appropriate ETA and tracking details

Advise management of the impact of changes in material availability

Product scheduling (MRP). Job order creation and release to production departments

Prints and process documentation attachment to Job Orders

Respond to all internal customers and suppliers with urgency and professionalism

Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition

Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies

Assist with other projects as needed

Perform other related duties as assigned

**SKILLS and ABILITIES**

Good written and communication skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Knowledge of ERP/MRP Computer Software Preferred

Blueprint reading and interpretation Preferred

**EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE**

High School Diploma/GED

BA/BS Preferred for Manufacturing Preferred

At least 1 year of experience
