    JOB SUMMARY

    The Access Services Representative 1 is responsible for gathering precise demographics and insurance details to register patients, confirm insurance benefits, and manage patient financial obligations.

    SHIFT AND SCHEDULE

    Evenings - Monday to Friday 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

    • Conducts and records patient interviews to gather demographic and financial information for registration, insurance verification, pre-certification, and billing.
    • Registers patients at various locations and across different departmental areas, understanding the patient flow processes in each area.
    • Identifies opportunities for process enhancement that foster teamwork among colleagues, enhance revenue cycle operations, and improve the overall patient experience.
    • Verifies patient insurance eligibility and determines suitable benefit levels for expected services. Calculates and collects patient financial responsibilities based on financial clearance policies, including existing and delinquent accounts.
    • Assists patients in navigating to nursing units by offering guidance, personal escort, and medical mobility aid when needed.
    • Ensures compliance with order validations, cash policies, government payor regulations, and patient safety protocols for accurate patient identification.
    • Promptly raises potential service concerns to management when required.

    • Strong listening and communication abilities, along with professional telephone etiquette.
    • Capability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure and emotionally charged situations, such as criminal incidents, behavioral health issues, and patient distress.
    • Exhibits a high level of empathy, effectively communicates with patients and families during difficult circumstances, and showcases exceptional customer service skills.
    • Demonstrates adeptness in managing multiple priorities efficiently and in an organized manner.
    • Proficient in data entry, numerical tasks, typing, and computer navigation.
    • Basic proficiency in computer operations and Microsoft Office suite.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • EDUCATION - High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
    • EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 year of relevant experience
