    **Description**

    **ROLE SUMMARY**

    Transports bio-hazardous laboratory patient specimens from physician offices and other healthcare agencies to the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center laboratory. Picks up, transports and delivers HIPPA confidential information without ever breaking confidentiality. Dresses and acts professional and is an excellent ambassador to our facility. Keeps the lab car in a clean condition which will positively reflect on Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.

    **CORE** **RESPONSIBILITIES**

    Picks up STAT and routine specimens in a timely manner ensuring proper turnaround times for specimen results.

    Establishes and maintains a good working relationship with all healthcare offices, professional agencies and the community when performing duties. Notifies supervisor or sales /services of any client concerns.

    Sorts and delivers reports accurately to the proper location.

    Promotes the laboratory by maintaining a professional image and conduct in all interactions with other healthcare agencies and the community.

    Keeps an accurate log of all specimen pickups for tracking purpose by using the approved route sheets. Signs off on all logs ensuring all pickups are complete.

    Notifies proper personnel when supplies are needed for clients and delivers them in a timely manner.

    Understands bloodborne pathogen exposure policies and practices safe habits related to specimen transport and handling.

    Keeps vehicles properly fueled ensuring other shifts do not run low. Keeps vehicles neat and clean at all times presenting a professional appearance.

    I understand that it is not within my scope of practice to handle any medications that I might inadvertently come in contact with, including medications delivered in the pneumatic tube system. If I do come in contact with medications I know to alert a licensed employee for them to handle.

    **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**

    High school diploma (or Equivalent Certificate from an accredited program) or higher degree

    Valid USA drivers license

    Must have clean driving record that follows Cheyenne Regional Medical Centers driving guidelines
