Laboratory Technologist II

Responsibilities

• Operating,

tuning/calibrating,

maintaining, and cleaning screening analyzers
(including but not limited to GC-MS, GC-FID, and LC-MS/MS).

• Managing high volumes of samples. This requires the ability to organize,

prioritize, and keep track of specimens while simultaneously testing and receiving
new ones.

• Maintaining inventory and organizing supplies required to perform the duties of a Laboratory Technologist II. Appropriately notifying the Laboratory Supervisor/Manager when supplies are needed.
• Filling out logs and paperwork as directed by the Laboratory

Supervisor/Manager.

• Meeting a daily quota of specimens processed.
• Maintaining a clean workspace throughout each shift, and performing a full

cleanup at the end of each shift.

• Effectively communicating and working with

colleagues/associates

in order to
optimize workflow and maintain smooth operations.

• Maintaining the quality of the laboratory by providing scientifically defensible

results. This requires an understanding of and ability to follow Standard
Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications/Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• B.S. or equivalent experience in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology, or

other related science preferred.

• Understanding of crosscontamination and how to avoid it, with a focus on high

volume sample management.

• Ability to use independent technical judgment in order to analyze and interpret

laboratory results.
