Position Qualification/Requirements
Degree/Education:
Physician will have successfully completed an Undergraduate Program, Medical School (M.D. or D.O.), Internship, and Residency Program
Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support

In addition to BLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Experience
:
Minimum of 1 year experience within preceding 3 years in the specialty.
Licensure:
Valid unrestricted medical license in at least 1 state, territory or commonwealth of the U.S. and will at a minimum be Board Eligible.
Board Certification:
Board certification by the American Board of Gastroenterology
Licensure/Registration
:
Possess a current Drug Enforcement Agency registration for controlled substances
Duties:
Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
Shall be knowledgeable of equipment and supply terminology and skill sufficient to identify and use necessary equipment and supplies properly and to communicate proper use with nurses, medical staff, patients, and family members.
Shall be sufficiently skilled to teach patients proper self-care and to motivate patients and family members to continue the procedures for promoting rapid healing.
Shall be knowledgeable and possess skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any Age-related needs of the patients.
The Contract HCP shall demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the appropriate patient population served:
Infants, Children, Adolescent, Adults, and Geriatric (>65).
Shall be a U.S citizen.
Shall have documentation of current Drug Enforcement Agency number.
The Contract HCP shall demonstrate skills in interviewing, examination, assessment, and management of patients with general medical and surgical health problems.
SPECIFIC DUTIES/TASKS THE CONTRACT EMPLOYEE SHALL PERFORM:
The Contract HCW shall perform full range of medical services to diagnose, treat, and manage patients care as required, and in strict compliance with standing orders and protocols set forth by the MTF.
Prepare and review case histories and obtain data through interviews of patients.
Examine patients and determine required x-ray examinations, clinical laboratory tests, and diagnostic as required.
Perform endoscopic procedures (such as upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, and/or flexible sigmoidoscopy) as necessary for the care of the patients and supervise trainees in the performance of such procedures.
Prescribe specific medication(s), diet, treatment modalities and oversee nursing personnel in patient care and treatment.
Admit and discharge patients to the wards appropriately for gastrointestinal related ailments or diseases.
Work under the general professional direction of the Chief Gastroenterology Services.
Make necessary rounds to inpatients, as needed.
Provide consultation services for members of the MTF staff for purposes of specialty area training.
As required, the contracted HCW will serve in a teaching capacity to staff members assigned to the MTF and ambulatory clinics.
Maintain accurate clinical records and receiving consultations and laboratory work of specific patients. The HCW shall complete medical charting within 72 hours of patient visit IAW with JC guidelines.
Provide advice and opinions upon request by the Chief of Gastroenterology or the referring physician in support of patient care and treatment.
When necessary, provide a Statement on Evaluation of Fitness IAW AR and provide completion of Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) dictation and paperwork.
The Contract HCW shall be responsible for providing medical care during the required work hours, including routine call, as designated by the medical treatment facility (MTF), and shall provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur.
The Contract HCW shall assume additional administrative or clinical duties as requested or needed to ensure sustainment of normal clinic operations and ensure compliance with JC standards, to include, but not limited to, managing daily schedules, reviewing and disposition consults, monitoring appointment utilization and patient access to care, conducting mandatory clinical training, monitoring clinic supplies and equipment, ensuring enforcement of clinic SOPs and standards, conducting monthly peer review and attend staff meetings.
