Classification Summary:
The Accessibility Specialist will review supporting documentation and requests for accommodations from students (i.e., undergraduate, graduate, and distance learners), and ensure students will receive all legally mandated, appropriate and renewable academic accommodations.
They will also conduct intakes for any transfer students from other higher education institutions to ensure accommodations are reviewed and put in place if appropriate at the University.
They will also orient, support, and provide guidance to students and those in their support system(s) about the disability accommodations process at the University, and how to appropriately use their approved accommodations.
In addition, the specialist will assist students in the accommodations process associated with field placements, practicums, and other non-paid placement settings and will work closely with the Student Assistance Services to identify and support students in need of mental health assessment, support, or services.
This is a full-time position and will report to the Director and Assistant Director of the Disability Access Services Program (DAS) and will serve as an interactive member of the DAS accommodation review team including assisting with other department's responsibilities and tasks as assignedDepartment Contact:
