    Description

Make an impact with your hands-on skills.

The Allen County Youth Services Center is seeking a proactive, skilled Maintenance Repair to help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for the young people we serve. If you enjoy working with your hands, solving problems on the spot, and taking pride in the condition of a facility from the front lawn to the mechanical room, this role offers both purpose and variety.

In this position, you'll work independently while being supported by an engaged leadership team. No two days look the same, you might be repairing HVAC units, maintaining secure door hardware, mowing grounds, troubleshooting electrical or plumbing issues, or helping prepare the facility for seasonal weather changes. Your contributions directly impact the safety, comfort, and daily experience of residents and staff. This is a full-time position Monday-Friday 7:30 A.M-4:00 P.M.

    What You'll Do

    • Maintain the full facility-cleaning restrooms, carpets, windows, floors, hallways, and common areas
    • Perform mechanical and equipment repairs, including power tools, mowers, and other machinery
    • Support outdoor grounds care: mowing, trimming, snow removal, tree cleanup, and gardening
    • Troubleshoot plumbing issues and conduct repairs (toilets, sinks, drains, water lines)
    • Repair and maintain kitchen appliances, laundry equipment, and facility systems
    • Conduct HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting (HVAC I/II preferred)
    • Ensure building safety including locks, door hardware, lights, panic devices, and secure access points
    • Perform basic electrical repairs and routine inspections
    • Maintain curb appeal by keeping exterior areas clean, lit, and welcoming
    • Manage inventory, order supplies, and complete maintenance documentation
    • Other duties as assigned to support facility operations
    What You Bring
    • High school diploma or GED; post-secondary tech training preferred
    • 3+ years experience in building maintenance, facilities repair, or related trades
    • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and manage time effectively
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work professionally with staff and youth
    • Valid Driver's License (use of county vehicle required)
    • Experience using tools such as drills, sawzall, weed eater, zero-turn mower, log splitter, chop saw, pressure washer, shop-vac, and other maintenance equipment
    • HVAC I/II certifications preferred but not required
    Why This Role Matters

This position supports a facility that plays a meaningful role in the community. The work you do contributes to a safe, stable environment for youth in our care, providing comfort, security, and dignity during critical moments in their lives.

You are not just maintaining a building. You're creating a space where growth and support can happen.

Please complete the application accurately and thoroughly. A resume is optional. Remember to save and submit your application. If applying for multiple positions, submit a separate application for each one. You'll receive an email confirmation once your application is received. Due to the high volume of applications, further communication will only occur if you're selected for an interview.
