    Job Summary
    Assist technicians in performing routine laboratory tasks.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Performance of the following, as applicable: prepare media and laboratory solutions; prepare
    • and titrate microbial and viral stocks; prepare and stain spot slides; prepare primers and
    • probes; isolate and purify DNA, RNA, and/or proteins.
    • Coordinate instrument maintenance; calibrate laboratory equipment; record laboratory
    • temperature readings.
    • Order, log in and restock supplies; remove laboratory waste; coordinate shipments;
    • interact with personnel from outside the department.
    • Make detailed observations and maintain clear, accurate and timely documentation of all
    • laboratory work.
    • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to company policies and procedures.
    • Actively participate in laboratory maintenance.
    • Efficiently organize, prioritize and plan work schedule.
    • Perform daily cleaning and monitoring of laboratories and clean rooms.
    • Perform all other related duties as assigned

    Job Qualifications

    • Education:
    High School or G.E.D. or higher education.


    • Experience: 0-1 years related experience in industry.
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory
    • substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • General laboratory working conditions.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and lift.
    • Must be able to regularly wear safety equipment and clothing in compliance with OSHA
    • regulations and company SOPs.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Regularly record data by hand or on a computer terminal.
    • Must be able to regularly stand approximately 4 hours a day.
    • Must be able to regularly communicate with other personnel and sponsors regarding all
    • aspects of the day to day operations of the Laboratory.
    • Must be able to regularly read and follow Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Regularly stand, walk, bend, reach overhead, push/pull and occasionally lift/carry objects of up to 50 lbs.

    COMMENTS:

    • Some weekend work may be required

    Compensation Data
    The pay range for this position is $19.00 to $20.28 an hour.

    Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, and location.

    With more than 50 years of experience and proven regulatory expertise, the Charles River Biologics group can address challenging projects for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies worldwide.

    Offering a variety of services such as contamination and impurity testing, protein characterization, bioassays, viral clearance studies and stability and lot release programs, we support clients throughout the biologic development cycle, from the establishment and characterization of cell banks through preclinical and clinical studies to marketed products.
