The Animal Care Technician is responsible for ensuring the daily care and well-being of animals at the Spokane Humane Society.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a healthful shelter environment by cleaning kennels, feeding animals, transferring them between quarters.
- Adhere to shelter procedures for handling cats and dogs of varying breeds temperaments behaviors assist adoptive families complete paperwork provide customer service monitor document animal health inform supervisor about medical treatment perform behavioral enrichment participate in staff meetings regularly review accuracy thoroughness own work others apply feedback improve performance adapt changes delays unexpected events manage competing demands prioritize tasks alter approaches fit situation develop maintain positive relationships agency team members follow instructions written verbal complete tasks on time notify appropriate person alternate plan when necessary make timely decisions exhibit sound accurate judgment explain reasoning behind decisions read write reports emails procedure policy documents communicate effectively community members present information respond questions management staff volunteers customers public in positive way identify prevent problems verify work before submitting formulate alternative solutions transfer learning past experiences continue improve job performance
