    Position Summary:
    The Senior Director of Supply Chain & Logistics is responsible for managing the overall warehousing, distribution, and logistics operations for the Straumann Group in North America (NAM). The individual will be expected to bring a strong focus on continuous improvement in a regulated (FDA / Health Canada) distribution and logistics operation for all NAM distribution centers.

    The position will provide strategic and transformational leadership for North America's warehouse and logistics function. This includes planning for warehouse layout and design, order processing process and sufficient inventory level / back-order management. The Senior Director of Supply Chain & Logistics will be expected to ensure the continued import and export of a wide range of products, resolving challenges as they arise.

    Job Responsibilities:
    This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following

    • Provide daily oversight and direction of inbound and outbound warehouse operations (picking, packing, and shipping) for NAM distribution centers.
    • Responsible for inventory planning, warehousing, inbound & outbound transportation, import & export as well as reverse logistics (return & recall management), re-labeling, re-packaging & destruction management as needed.
    • Minimize errors in operations, especially outbound shipping.
    • Lead continuous improvement program and tracks performance.
    • Exceed key customer-facing service levels (i.e., OTIF, warehouse service level, etc.)
    • Drive distribution capacity expansion initiative to support sales growth.
    • Ensure the stock cycle counting and physical inventory activities are performed according to guidelines, procedures, Finance & Accounting planning, and statutory closing calendar.
    • Create and maintain efficient, sustainable processes to optimize the returns process including reporting and management tools to bring visibility to the root causes of return, ensure policy adherence, and drive cost saving and customer satisfaction.
    • Ensure the coordination of Education and Trade Show order Fulfillment and Distribution Operations from Andover and multiple third-party logistics locations.
    • Develop and maintain the relevant control activities in an ISO certified and FDA / Health Canada regulated medical device distribution environment.
    • Work with multiple stakeholders at HQ in Switzerland as well as manufacturing sites in other countries to resolve import and export issues, product detentions, etc. as they arise.
    • Assess existing and future requirements of the organization in determining the optimal logistic strategy and warehouse footprint.
    • Generate the annual budget/strategy for the warehouse/logistics functions, looking for continuous improvement in the key metric of cost as a percent of sales to leverage investment as we grow. Develop and monitor department budget as required.
    • Partner with NAM Product Management to ensure adequate inventory levels at product launch and throughout product lifecycle.
    • Work closely with the Customer Service Team to ensure clear communication on back orders, errors caused in shipping, and other optimization efforts.
    • Ensure, as the customer-focused point of contact, that all customer complaints and opportunities for improvement are managed, reinforcing clarity, consistency, and responsiveness.
    • Manage 3rd party carrier relationships, routing, service, and cost optimization.
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive digital distribution strategy in alignment with Straumann Digital journey.
    • Lead and develop a high-performing team of supply chain professionals, setting performance goals, conducting performance reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Responsible for department management including staffing, training, performance management and career development of associates, and developing and monitoring department goals.
    • Develop strong processes for hiring, supervising, scheduling, and training warehouse personnel. Work with temp agencies as needed to meet short-term labor demands.
    • Provide strategic leadership and connect with direct reports through open communication and support to enable a productive working environment.
    • Build strong relationships and bridges with other areas of the business.
    • Forecast and roadmap staffing for both short-term and long-term success.

    Physical Attributes:

    • May sit for extended periods of time.
    • Bend, crouch and reach continuously while performing required job tasks.
    • Utilize dexterity abilities to perform typing, operate a computer and other office equipment, to perform filing, and related job responsibilities and attention to detail competence.
    • Spend significant time reading both on paper and on a computer.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline
    • 10+ years of operations experience
    • 5+ years of management experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Lean Six Sigma experience strongly preferred
    • Experience in working with SAP MM/SD preferred
    • Aptitude for demand planning and forecasting in a global organization and working with employees, vendors and complicated processes and procedures
    • Thorough knowledge and understanding of end-to-end order to cash processes including MRP, forecasting, and inventory management
    • Experience with warehouse automation, pick-to-light and/or similar preferred
    • Excellent and proactive communication skills
    • Cultivate a broad network of relationships with key internal and external constituents
    • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines, manage multiple projects and locations simultaneously and to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, individual, and team-oriented work environment
    • Demonstrated leadership qualities, able to engage and influence team and external partners
    • Strong ability to create management reporting to detail current status and future plans
    • Ability to work independently, efficiently, and effectively under extreme time constraints and deliver results by critical deadlines
    • Experience in working in a fast-paced regulated environment (FDA / Health Canada, ISO)
    • Extensive Import Export of regulated products (FDA related experience required)
    • Medical device or related industry experience
    • Proven Project Management Experience
