    SUMMARY:

    The Business Intelligence Analyst will lead the design and implementation of advanced forecasting tools and streamline operational processes by building and deploying solutions leveraging state of the art business intelligence, statistical analysis software, and leading-edge programming languages.In particular, this position places an emphasis on independent working, with the Business Intelligence Analyst being responsible for organically identifying strategic opportunities to advance a new business group, and subsequently building and deploying applications to address those opportunities.

    The goal of this position is to strategically leverage technology to optimize all forecasting, pricing, purchasing, and logistical activity for AAR Distribution. In addition, the Business Intelligence Analyst will lead the development of best-in-class processes and techniques for statistical analysis and modeling, as well as act in a leadership capacity concerning any data and analytics initiatives.

    The position requires an individual who is familiar with building complex database queries, business intelligence dashboards, Python/R scripting, the software development lifecycle, project management, data mining and collection procedures, and the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders and partners.

    The Business Intelligence Analyst will work closely with key leaders of the Distribution Business Unit group.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Collaborate with members of the Distribution team and senior leadership to understand business requirements and expectations.
    • Lead the analysis and organization of vast collections of data to both report out on and formulate and implement new technologies and tools in order to optimize operational processes.
    • Work closely with senior leadership to determine/develop the strategic direction of the business unit from a data and analytics perspective, both internally and externally.
    • Build database queries in Oracle and MS SQL Server to deliver reports and analysis to senior leadership using MS Power BI dashboards or similar reporting software. (DOMO)
    • Work as part of a larger analytics team in supplying data driven advice and strategic direction to the business.
    • Business Development Analytics - deep dive sales data provided by OEMs to evaluate opportunity size and anomalies.
    • Business Development Strategy - Perform analysis on market sizing, sales gaps, target OEMs and Customers
    • KPIs and process / performance analytics - develop tools to measure business performance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Total AAR / Cross department spend - review spend across total AAR portfolio and identify new OEM Partnership / BD opportunities.
    • Dashboards and DOMO visualization - develop dashboards and visualizations for key business stakeholders and external reporting to OEM Partners.
    • PTC - take a lead role in implementation efforts for new forecasting software.
    • New software / analytics projects - make recommendations to the business leaders on new investments / tools / software's to be pursued / implemented.
    • Business Development Research as needed.
    • Travel to and from client sites for collaborative work and data extraction.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
    • PC Literate (Excel, Access) Competent with relational databases, complex spreadsheets, and statistical software packages.
    • Advanced knowledge of relevant data visualization software, Python, SQL, and database design. Familiarity with PHP, Java, and other similar programming languages is considered a plus.
    • Experience with data mining and extraction, in addition to a strong background in building and implementing custom enterprise-scale data enabled technologies.
    • Ability to independently conceive of, plan, and lead high impact data driven initiatives.
    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
    • Bachelor (B.A./B.S.) degree from four-year College or university required; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
