    Job Summary

    This paragraph summarizes the general nature, level and purpose of the job.

    The Sr. Embryologist is responsible for performing all aspects of in vitro fertilization procedures without direct supervision. The position is composed of embryology and andrology related duties.

    These tasks include, but are not limited to, media preparation, egg retrieval procedures, cumulus trimming and stripping, sperm preparation for ART procedures, insemination, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), fertilization checks, embryo culture, embryo transfers, vitrification and warming of embryos, assisted hatching, trophectoderm biopsy and biopsy tubing.

    Some andrology procedures may have to be performed off-site.

    Essential Functions

    Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.


    • Accurate maintenance of laboratory records, including proficiency testing, quality control, equipment maintenance, monitoring and calibration, patient test and clinical procedure records, deviations from established performance specifications and corrective actions taken.
    • Identify problems which may adversely affect patient test or procedure results, and either rectify the problem or report it to the laboratory director, scientific advisor or laboratory supervisor; Solves problems using available reference material when necessary.
    • Maintains neat, legible and complete written records of work performed and performs additional record keeping or data analysis as required or requested.
    • Participates in meeting within the clinical practice and offers suggestions and assistance.
    • Participates in research projects and publications.
    • Performance of routine laboratory maintenance; ordering and stocking laboratory supplies.
    • Performs embryology and andrology related procedures as outlined above
    • Responsible for compiling accurate data for CDC/SART reporting.
    • Responsible for performing all aspects of in vitro fertilization procedures. Performance of all the duties required in the REI/IVF laboratories.
    • Strict adherence to all established safety regulations as outlined in the Universal Precautions/Infection Control Policy.
    • Teaches and trains other personnel within the laboratory.
    • Goes to work-related discipline/field held meetings to present research and to grow professionally.
    • Helps with fellow and staff education in regards to lab procedures and research.
    • Fully trained in all aspects of embryology and andrology skills used within our laboratory as outlined above.
    • Able to research and apply new techniques within our field for the advancement of our lab.
    • Able to teach all skills used within our laboratory to staff.
    • Goes to work-related discipline/field held meetings to present research.
    • Helps with fellow and staff education in regards to lab procedures and reseach.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications


    Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.


    Education:
    Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.

    Experience:

    Four (4) years in a clinical, public health, IVF, genetic or environmental laboratory setting to include at least 3 years of progressively responsible and/or supervisory experience.

    • Knowledge and proficiency in human gamete cryopreservation.
    • Knowledge and proficiency in micromanipulation Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI).
    • Knowledge and proficiency in stem cell culture and somatic cell nuclear transfer.
    • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.
    • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility.
    • Knowledge of new technologies (in specific field) and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes.

    Pay Range

    Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

    Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

    Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

    Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $127,982.40 to $151,216.00
