Analyst, Portfolio Management - Charlotte, United States - Dimensional Fund Advisors, L.P.

    Default job background
    Description
    Notes to applicants:
    • Most roles at Dimensional will be part of our best-of-both hybrid working model. This includes working together in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and choosing to work in the office or remotely on Mondays and Fridays. This maximizes in person collaboration and interaction while simultaneously providing flexibility. This broad universal approach applies to most roles globally with a few exceptions that require more or less time in the office. Please discuss with your Recruiter to confirm the details for this specific role.
    • Resumes and portfolios (when applicable) are required as part of your application. When applying from a mobile device or tablet, you may not be able to attach a resume. If you cannot include an attachment at the time of your application, you will receive a follow up email asking you to attach your resume from a computer.
    • Here at Dimensional, we strive to be an inclusive workplace for all. Even if you do not match every qualification listed, if you are interested in who we are, what we do, and why we do it, we suggest and encourage you to apply.
    • If you require reasonable accommodation in completing this application, interviewing, or otherwise participating in the employee selection process, such accommodation is available upon request.
    Job Description:

The Portfolio Management team is responsible for the implementation of Dimensional's investment philosophy. Portfolios are structured to target sources of higher expected return that have been identified and vetted by academia and Dimensional's research team. The team is responsible for the daily oversight and management of Dimensional's portfolios to ensure consistent and efficient exposure to these sources of higher expected returns. Additionally, Portfolio Management interacts and collaborates closely with several departments including Trading, Research, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and the Global Client Group to ensure a superior investment experience for our clients.

As an Analyst, you will support the day-to-day needs of the Portfolio Management team. Analysts are responsible for performing a series of daily tasks to ensure that our management and trading processes run smoothly. In addition to standard responsibilities, Analysts collaborate with senior team members on ad-hoc requests and projects that provide outstanding learning opportunities and the chance to gain familiarity with processes related to fund management.

Once settled into the role, Analysts join the "Analyst Development Program" as well as get a chance to become junior leads of a number of investment processes. The increasing exposure to various tasks and great emphasis on development set out the first stepping-stones en-route to becoming a Portfolio Manager. Additionally, the job may require the use of tools and procedures that are supported by databases and various coding languages. Candidates should be willing to learn SQL, MS Access, and Python through provided training.

    Responsibilities:
    • Support cash management of portfolios with credit lines, currency hedges, and cash forecasting
    • Analyze voluntary corporate events and recommend elections to Portfolio Managers
    • Prepare data for Portfolio Manager presentations to clients and internal executives
    • Complete ad-hoc requests from Portfolio Managers
    • Propose and execute projects that increase process efficiency and improve portfolio outcomes
    • Collaborate across business functions and teams, both internal and external to the firm
    Desired Experience and Traits:
    • Bachelor's degree required
    • Interest in financial markets and passionate about improving the investment experience
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Detail-oriented, organized, highly motivated, and able to work independently and in a team environment
    • Self-starter who is capable of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
    • Proficiency in MS Excel
    • Ability to absorb and apply information from formal and informal learning experiences
Dimensional offers a variety of programs to help take care of you, your family, and your career, including comprehensive benefits, educational initiatives, and special celebrations of our history, culture, and growth.
