    **General Summary**

    Direct and oversees the development, implementation and support of information systems used in the operations of QualTex, STBTC and GenCure subsidiaries including but not limited to BECS, LIMS, Instrument Interface Systems, etc.

    This person will provide direct supervision for IT personnel within the STBTC support and IT Laboratory support teams.

    It will also ensure team members are properly trained according to what is required by their job function and is responsible for overseeing their performance.

    The individual will work closely with other functional areas within the ITS department to unsure the highest level of automation is delivered to our internal customers based on proper Infrastructure design, Adhoc Functionality, Data integrity and Security practices.

    The Director of Laboratory Information System will work closely with functional areas to report on projects progress, manage expectations, deliver measurable results in accordance with defined project timelines and requirements, it will also build synergy between all project stakeholders.

    Must stay current with industry best practices and analyze our existing systems and processes against modern standards to create and execute an efficient road map for future systems.

    The position will be responsible for managing all IT Laboratory related Operations in San Antonio and Atlanta and be an active member of the ITS leadership team and participate in identifying goals, developing strategic plans, developing budgets, and other tasks as requested to help the department achieve its objectives.

    This position reports directly to the Vice President of Information Technology Services.

    Provide world class customer service by capturing and being responsive to the voice of the customer (internal or external, including donors for select positions) through multiple feedback channels in order to resolve issues and drive satisfaction in accordance with the BBG customer engagement, feedback, and complaint processes.

    It is essential that the incumbent have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years old with a good driving record to meet organization driving standards.

    **Major Duties and Responsibilities**

    Essential Tasks

    Manage the day?to?day activities of supervisors and systems analysts in the Laboratory IT Systems and Blood

    Systems in Atlanta and San Antonio.

    Provide technical guidance and oversight for all activities related to laboratory and blood systems.

    Assist in supporting and troubleshooting systems, as needed.

    Oversee and participate in IT?aspects of BBG initiatives, such as the Track system, StarLims, BECS etc.

    Provide training to subordinates, as necessary, to ensure sufficient knowledge transfer so they can support each

    other and provide backfill during absences.

    Interview and make recommendations in regard to hiring, terminating, promoting, demoting, evaluating, counseling, and salary changes for departmental personnel as needed.

    Maintain close working relationship with the ITS management team, soliciting input and keeping them informed on issues pertaining to the department.

    Ensure ITS quality readiness for regulatory inspections.

    Create and manage validation procedures and testing documentation. Analyze and improve laboratory systems processes and procedures.

    Develop and enforce standard procedures to guide, codify, and organize validation activities.

    Manage IT Laboratory and Blood Systems projects to ensure requirements and deadlines are consistently achieved.

    Assist in the preparation of training guides, user manuals, job aids, competency materials, and SOPs. Review work orders and follow up on any documentation needs.

    Creating Standard Operating Procedures, application administration, and supporting technical documentation. Interact with software, hardware, and/or professional services vendors.

    Maintain application environments for all laboratory applications to ensure high availability. Develop and maintain knowledge and understanding of the following:

    + Laboratory Systems, Equipment, Instrumentation and technology

    + Laboratory capabilities and capacity

    + Basic regulatory programs and client speci?c needs relative to assigned analyses

    + Laboratory accreditation and Quality Assurance

    Manage technology roadmaps for responsible laboratory and blood applications.

    Research new technologies to improve the software application footprint and further automation of business processes.

    Responsible for development and implementation of training procedures for team members. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Non-Essential Tasks

    Assist in other areas as directed.

    **Education**

    Requires a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work relative to the field of assignment. The required major is Information Systems, Medical Technology, Life Science, or Computer Science.

    Prefer a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university. The preferred major is Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or equivalent.

    Licenses and/or Certifications

    Valid United States Drivers License

    Major IT certifications such as CompTia, MCITP, etc and Medical Laboratory Technologist preferred

    **Experience**

    Requires ten or more years of Laboratory Information Systems experience.

    Requires seven or more years of creating technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Requires four or more years of managerial experience.

    **Knowledge**

    Must have knowledge of information technology service management concepts and methodologies, business process analysis and reengineering, and project management processes and methodologies.

    Must obtain a working knowledge of regulatory/quality requirements and perform within all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.

    Must have knowledge of system design and development processes and methodologies such as the SDLC.

    **Skills**

    Must have excellent multi-tasking skills and problem solving skills. Must have excellent management skills.

    Must be capable of operating motor vehicles in all types of weather conditions. Must have strong computer skills.

    Must have experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint and Excel. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

    Must have excellent analytical/critical thinking skills.

    **Abilities**

    Must be a self-starter and self-directed worker.

    Must be able to create business process flow charts and job aids using Visio or other modeling tools. Must be able to keep information confidential.

    Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment and perform multiple requests simultaneously while maintaining quality and accuracy.

    Must be able to work in a team environment and relate well to others. Must be neat in appearance and well groomed.

    Must be professional, detail oriented, self-motivated, innovative, creative, assertive, organized, communicative, and have the ability to work independently.

    Must have the ability to demonstrate assertiveness, leadership, problem-solving skills and team-building.

    **Working Environment**

    Works in a well-lighted air conditioned and heated laboratory/department.

    May be exposed to electrical, mechanical and chemical hazards and other conditions common to a laboratory environment.

    May be exposed to blood borne pathogens and other conditions common to a clinical laboratory environment. May have bodily exposure to refrigerator/freezer temperature, especially hands and face.

    Will work extended hours during peak periods.

    May be required to work any time of the day, evening or night during the week or weekend.
