    HEADS UP - Network Engineer - CTP - Westwood, MA - $ $40.00/hr.

    The final salary or hourly wage, as applicable, paid to each candidate/applicant for this position is ultimately dependent on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's/applicant's qualifications, skills, and level of experience as well as the geographical location of the position.

    Our client is seeking a HEADS UP - Network Engineer in Westwood, MA.

    Role Description
    We are looking to hire an experienced network engineer to manage and maintain our customers enterprise network. Ultimately, you will be responsible for the functional management of our customers network, the delegation of tasks, and the resolution of network issues.
    To ensure success as a network engineer, you should have extensive experience working with enterprise networks, high-level skills, and project management skills. A Top-class Network Engineer ensures the networking team performs as a cohesive unit, maintaining the stability and performance of the network
    The network we support is a very stable and healthy network, so it's very rare to get out of working hour calls, so there is no set hours or rotating schedules. But due to the nature of the network, if there is something critical requiring support outside of the regular shift, we deliver it and then compensate the time in a flexible manner. This particular contract won't allow for extra time, so we basically would balance the time to cover the 40 hours of the week.

    • Perform a complex range of technical work activities at customer site to meet business and customer requirements.

    • Contribute to the design and implementation of solutions to meet customer and contract requirements.

    • Ensures that operational documentation is fit for purpose and current to meet customer and contract requirements.

    • Develop best practice procedures and guidelines to ensure consistent compliance to customer and company

    • Able to communicate on complex issues to meet business and customer requirements.

    • Evaluate escalations and resolve appropriately to ensure customer demands are met.

    • Ability to adapt quickly to dynamic team environments to maintain consistency effective contributions

    • Identify own development needs in line with business objectives

    • Acts as role model for colleagues with regards to technical and behavioural competencies

    • Monitoring and maintaining GAN, and LAN. This to include replacing failed hardware as needed. Most hardware failures consist of switches and access points. Engineers would be required to configure and install replacement hardware as needed using a template.

    • Monitoring, updating and resolving daily tickets in a customer ticketing system.

    • Perform daily moves, adds, and changes.

    • Perform all aspects of network administration including documentation of hardware components using Microsoft Visio software, Spectrum and Command applications.

    • Troubleshoot wireless network using Cisco Prime, spectrum analysis, NetScout devices, Savvius Omnipeek, and /or Ekaahu software.

    • Troubleshoot TP/IP incidents using Wireshark packet capture software

    • Assist project team completing various ongoing project tasks

    Skills & Requirements

    • Demonstrate ability to apply Core Values daily.

    • Successful delivery of project assignments according to customer guidelines, and within agreed timeframe.

    • Adhering to existing Change Management processes.

    • Effective time management skills by displaying the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    • Adherence to customer standards relative to configuration of hardware, documentation, and physical installation.

    • Implementing changes with minimal customer impacts.

    • Maintaining current industry certifications, while developing skillsets as new technologies emerge.

    • Troubleshooting. Act as tier 3 escalation point for any issues which cannot be resolved by tier 2 or remote service team members.

    • Provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotating schedule

    • Bachelors of Science degree and or relative network engineer experience.

    • Active CCNP/CCDP level of certification, with the ability to demonstrate appropriate skillset.

    • Active certifications in a specialty line of networking such as Wireless, Security, Cloud, Data Center, etc.

    • Other Certification that would be beneficial in this role are ITIL v3, CCDA, CCIE, any Cisco Wireless certifications.

    • The means to adopt and deliver best practices to ensure consistency of service by acting as a liaison with colleagues to ensure best practice and continual improvement in delivery of service to the business.

    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Outlook, Excel, Project, Visio, and Power Point.

    • High degree of knowledge for Cisco equipment, Cisco Prime, Access Points, Controllers, Nexus 5k 7k switches.

    • High degree of skill troubleshooting TCP/IP challenges using Wireshark or similar IP capturing tools.

    • Advanced knowledge of current wireless protocols related to installation and troubleshooting.

    • Ability to maintain composure during stressful troubleshooting sessions.

    • Clearly and concisely communicate with various levels of management.

    • The means to exercise strong time management skills, and able to work unsupervised.

    • Able to travel to remote sites, if necessary.
