    Description

    Position Summary:

    The Licensed Practical Nurse-PNS (LPN) is responsible for providing direct nursing care to assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician in patient care areas. The LPN delivers and documents direct nursing care in alignment with physician orders and nursing care plans. Patient response is communicated to a registered nurse for review and adjustment of care plans. Additionally, the LPN supports physicians and other nursing staff in performing diagnostic procedures.

    The LPN collaborates effectively with colleagues, physicians, and department heads while demonstrating exemplary customer service skills. Strong organizational and PC skills, along with knowledge of nursing theory and practice, are essential. The LPN must be able to make independent decisions during emergency situations.

    Education:

    • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nurse program required.

    Experience:

    • Previous acute care experience preferred.
    • Prior experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.

    Licensure/Certification/Registration:

    • Active South Carolina (or compact state) LPN licensure (SCLLR) in good standing required.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

    Special Skills:

    • Ability to collaborate effectively with co-workers, nursing colleagues, physicians, and department heads.
    • Strong core customer service skills.
    • Strong PC and organizational skills.
    • Knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
    • Strong verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to exercise independent judgement during emergencies.

    Working Conditions:

    • Occasional exposure to challenging patients.
    • High-stress environment due to multiple simultaneous demands.
    • Handling of radiation and biohazardous/infectious materials.
    • Extended periods of standing and walking.

    Physical Requirements:

    Medium physical demand includes frequent standing, sitting, walking, occasional hand and finger use, and the ability to hear and communicate effectively. The LPN must be able to move objects weighing 10 to 35 pounds and have specific vision abilities. Post-offer Employee Health fit-for-duty review will assess the LPN's ability to meet physical demands.
