Administers prescribed occupational therapy programs under the direction and supervision of a licensed occupational therapist to restore function, prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of body part; help patients reach maximum performance while learning to live within the limits of his/her capabilities.
Supervises supportive personnel and students in their performance of patient/resident care services and treatments, as requested under supervision of OTR/L.
Education:
In addition to the skills normally obtained through completion of a High School education, an Associate's Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program is required
Licensure:
Current Rhode Island licensure
Experience:
Preferred, but not required.
Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements:
Clean, well-lighted, and well-ventilated area. Exposed daily to disagreeable odors, sights of bodily wastes and contaminated equipment. May be exposed to infectious diseases and/or bodily harm from combative patients.
Required to carry, push, pull equipment as well as turn, transfer, and assist patients with ADLs and/or therapeutic (PROM and AROM) exercise.
Required to use eyes, hands, and fingers with skill in administering therapy evaluations and treatments, and completing progress notes, reports, summaries, and letters.
