    Signature Healthcare's Brockton Hospital is hiring for a Part Time, Nights, Emergency Department Technician in Brockton, MA.

    Employees are expected to work every other weekend and alternating holidays.

    Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital Emergency Department (ED) has undergone a renovation concluding in 2024 to better meet the needs of our patients and staff.

    The ED staff care for patients of all ages, supporting the needs of our diverse community. The ED includes 49 beds including a secured 12 bed area for behavioral health patients.

    The ED employees RN, LPN, Paramedic, Technical and Clerical Staff and works closely with Security and other ancillary services of the organization.

    The Emergency Department Technician (ED tech) performs duties under the supervision and direction of the nursing and physician staff.

    The tech role is essential to a successful, cohesive Emergency care team.

    Roles and Responsibilities


    • Prepare clinical areas for patient care by ensuring equipment and supplies are available
    • Replenish equipment and supplies throughout shift as necessary
    • Assisting with patient arrivals from walk in and ambulance by preparing a clean, welcoming environment.
    • Assist with transportation of patients throughout organization including within department, assisting patients in and out of automobiles if necessary. Transport may be independent, or as an assist to nursing staff.
    • Assisting with preparation of patient and equipment and supplies for helicopter transport from hospital.
    • Assist with clinical care of patients within scope of job role.
    • Performing CPR, and assisting with airway management as directed.
    • Measuring and documenting patient vital signs.
    • Performing Phlebotomy and obtaining EKG's
    • Performing Point of Care testing and documenting results with accuracy.
    • Assisting with application of orthopedic devices, and simple dressings.
    • Helping to position patients of all ages for examination, procedures and care as indicated. Chaperoning examinations as appropriate.
    • Demonstrate behaviors that support organizational standards and goals. Interact with internal and external persons in a manner that represents ED appropriately. Demonstrate flexibility in role and comply with changes in assignment as directed by Charge Nurse.
    • Participate in end of life care as indicated.
    • Actively participate in functions that support regulatory readiness in ED.
    • Assist in care of behavioral health patients including safety watch and safety measures as directed.
    • Demonstrate compliance with patient privacy policies.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to caring for patients in a diverse community with respect for cultural, age, gender and social considerations. Utilize interpreter services appropriately.
    • Engage in education and training that is required for role, including inservices and rollout of new processes and procedures.
    • Assist with basic clerical duties as indicated.
    • Participate in daily huddle and other activities designed to support process improvement , patient and staff enhancement.
    • Other duties as indicated and directed by Charge nurse.

    Required Skills and Education:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program, basic EMT training, or completion of one year of nursing education that includes clinical practice.
    • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
