    Description

    The Levy Group of Companies is seeking a Quality Control Manager whose heart flutters at words like gradation testing, specific gravity and organic purity testing, who also enjoys working with and leading others from the lab to the field and prefers to take the 10,000-foot view. You will be managing quality control processes and employees in order to ensure high-quality, cost-effective products are produced. As well as using technical knowledge to influence appropriate product application. This position is with our American Aggregates division in Wixom, MI

    Responsibilities
    The Quality Control Manager will:

    • Directs, trains, supports, and develops technical staff.
    • Establishes standard processes to test, control and take corrective actions relating to product quality
    • Generates mix designs to meet customer specifications
    • Interfaces with customers to influence product application decisions and satisfy customer requirements.
    • Troubleshoots technical field issues and takes steps to resolve issue to customer's satisfaction
    • Manages cost effectiveness, application viability, and number of mix designs necessary to support business requirements
    • Works effectively with internal and external suppliers to provide a competitive advantage without compromising quality.
    • Communicates effectively with MDOT, QA, local government agencies, and consultants
    • Coordinates coverage and supervision of employees and rental technicians
    • Performs other duties as assigned by manager

    Skills

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering preferable (May consider Degree in Chemical Engineering or Geology) or equivalent experience
    • Must have managed quality control function in the aggregate industry
    • Supervisory experience
    • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Quality Control capacity.
    • Knowledge of MDOT mix designs, appropriate applications and mix adjustments.
    • Knowledge of aggregates
    • Experience in field troubleshooting and testing procedures.
    • Experience in managing QA/QC projects
    • Experience in aggregate properties relative to weather conditions
    • Must be computer literate with knowledge of spreadsheets and computerized batching systems.
    • A leader with excellent people skills to successfully work with operations and sales management, employees, customers, and government representatives.
    • Ability to work closely with operations management to improve products or services.
    • Capable of communicating technical subject matter both in writing and verbally to a variety of audiences.
    • Capable of training employees and customers in formal and informal settings.
    • Valid driver's license and must be willing to travel
