    Description

    The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Virginia, School of Medicine seeks candidates for an open rank, open track, Interventional Cardiologist to direct the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.

    Rank and tenure status will be dependent upon qualifications.

    Working alongside nursing and administration, the incumbent will be expected to provide clinical, administrative, research, and educational oversight of the catheterization laboratory and physician, nursing, and technical staff.

    The candidate will also provide significant clinical service in outpatient clinics and on inpatient units, will be responsible for performing invasive/interventional cardiovascular procedures, with an emphasis on diagnostic catheterization and coronary intervention, as well as provide care for patients with STEMI, acute coronary syndromes and cardiogenic shock.

    We will be especially interested in candidates with additional expertise in maintaining and expanding our chronic total occlusion and complex coronary disease program.

    Additionally, individuals with skills and expertise in peripheral vascular interventions, cardiac critical care and cardiogenic shock/mechanical circulatory support will be of particular interest.

    This position specifically does not involve participation in the structural heart program.

    The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and leadership skills and have demonstrated a solid background and interest in clinical research both independently and as part of multicenter trials.

    Additionally, the ideal candidate should have a strong academic portfolio demonstrating ongoing scholarly productivity, should have recognition on the national level, as well as involvement in professional societies and should have strong educational skills, as they will be expected to participate heavily in the numerous teaching activities at our Institution.

    Candidates must have an MD or equivalent and be board certified in Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology.
