    Overview

    Ensuring the fulfillment of Northern Arizona Healthcare's mission, the Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating care for patients and their families, delivering direct care, providing patient and family education, and assisting with discharge planning.

    When caring for patients, Registered Nurses go through the process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation to ensure quality care delivery.

    Additionally, the Registered Nurse takes on a leadership role for ancillary staff, acting as a team leader, preceptor, and active member of the healthcare team, following the ANA Scope of Practice, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and specialty standards.

    Responsibilities

    Patient Care

    • Assesses patient needs and conditions by collecting relevant health information.
    • Identifies outcomes, develops individualized care plans, and adjusts them as needed.
    • Contributes to the patient experience, ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
    • Evaluates patient progress, performs aseptic techniques, maintains infection prevention standards, and collaborates with healthcare professionals.
    • Assists with procedures and patient transportation following hospital protocols.

    Education

    • Participates in creating a learning environment based on evidence-based practice and research.
    • Focuses on personal development, engages in professional interactions, and collaborates with peers and other healthcare providers.
    • Mentors and educates colleagues and students.

    Compliance/Safety

    • Adheres to regulatory and organizational standards, hospital policies, and safety practices.
    • Stays up-to-date with regulations, maintains certifications/licenses, and completes required training.
    • Ensures accurate documentation and reports safety incidents promptly.

    Qualifications

    Education: RNs hired after 7/1/2016 must graduate from a BSN program within 6 years. Existing Staff RNs hired before 7/1/2016 are encouraged to pursue a BSN degree.

    Certificates and Licensure:

    • Active, unrestricted Arizona RN License or valid participating compact license - Required
    • BLS, ACLS - Required
    • PALS - Required within 90 days of hire
    • CPAN - Preferred

    Experience

    In the dynamic healthcare landscape, technology plays a vital role in patient care. Colleagues need proficiency in using computers and basic software programs.
