    Job Description

Apogee Research is at the forefront of a revolution in how the DoD operates: a turn towards compositional systems of systems instead of traditional monolithic architectures. This change is driven by a need for faster adaptation to adversarial environments, which requires the ability to field resilient, distributed systems in days to weeks rather than months to years. Apogee Research's pioneering STITCHES toolchain is enabling a step change in the speed and flexibility with which heterogeneous, distributed systems can be integrated; STITCHES is an Air Force Program of Record being used to build operational capabilities for many customers.

Apogee Research is looking for STITCHES Application Engineers that will leverage the STITCHES toolchain to address unmet needs for our DoD customers a wide array of domains (ISR, EW, Networking, Cyber, etc.). This work can span many fronts from characterizing subsystems to developing novel algorithms and state machines to impedance match between asynchronous systems to tailoring the generated code to execute on embedded weapons systems with limited resources. The role's focus will vary based on the expertise and desires of the candidate.

This job will provide the opportunity to travel to support demonstrations and tests with operationally relevant hardware.

The position is located in our Arlington, VA office ( full-time in person ). Existing DoD Top Secret clearance is extremely desirable, otherwise all candidates must be eligible to obtain one and therefore all candidates must be a US citizen to apply.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • STITCHES encapsulate and characterize subsystems ranging from radars to jammers to comms boxes to trackers to resource managers and more
    • Write transforms and stateful algorithms to compose subsystems into a composite capability to address specific customer needs (e.g., distributed kill chains, coordinated EW, over-the-horizon surveillance)
    • Integrate and deploy capability onto operationally relevant hardware
    • Demonstrate and test composite capability in lab and test events
    • Create documentation and test suites to help warfighters and co-contractors leverage our solutions

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Extensive experience deploying software onto real systems operating in uncertain environments
    • High proficiency in a language such as C++ or Java
    • Thorough understanding of the fundamentals of computer and network security
    • Strong analytical and problem solving and organizational skills
    • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and remain well organized in a fast-paced environment
