    Position SummaryThe Automation Engineer is responsible for design and engineering of controls and automated plant floor systems in an industrial production environment.

    This position includes proficiency in programming for Rockwell Automation Logix 500, Logix 5000, Studio 5000, Inductive Automation Ignition platform SCADA, Maple Systems HMI, proficient PC knowledge within an Active Directory managed I.T.

    system, knowledge and proficiency in Rockwell Automation Stratix Ethernet switching and CPWE distributed networks, as well as Soft Starters, VFDs and motion drives of various makes and models.

    Essential FunctionsProficient in Logix based ladder logicFamiliar with add-on instructions, function block programming and use, Ethernet module connections via EIP/CIP to ABB IRC5 based robots.

    Familiar with DeviceNet connections to ABB IRC5 and SC4+ based robots.
    Experience programming PLCs "from scratch" is preferred.
    Assists Cell Technicians in advanced troubleshooting needs for production, Root Cause Analysis.
    Coordination of new installations with contractors, debugging and commissioning of new equipment.
    Updating electrical diagrams and prints.
    Creating work instructions.
    Assisting production with "Top 5" initiatives in a collaborative environment.
    ExperiencePrefer Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field or a minimum of ten years in a related field.
    Coordination with in-house and external electrical personnel.
    Assists maintenance with controls-based issues and programming.
    Design and installation of sensors and VFDs, as well as other controls equipment.
    Must be creative and flexible while still operating within the confines of a standard-work based environment.
    Strong focus on task completion, and a "self-starter" is a must.
    Mentoring Cell Technicians and Maintenance Technicians in controls aspects.
    Experience with DH+ networks, and protocol adapters is a plus.
