SOLAR ARRAY PHOTOVOLTAICS ENGINEER
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drive design and manufacturing process development of high volume manufactured, low-cost photovoltaic assemblies for space applications
Model cost, performance, reliability, and manufacturability of photovoltaic assemblies
Understand and evaluate current and emerging photovoltaic technologies within all relevant solar industries
Develop new tests to characterize degradation mechanisms and predict the performance of proposed designs through product life.
Perform due diligence on designs including hand calculations, FMEA, and DFMEA
Participate in design trades considering mechanical, optical, electrical, thermal, and cost performance
Design, document, and release flight designs using industry best standards
Coordinate development effort across multiple teams
Track and communicate project status
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or science
5+ years of experience in technical program management
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
MS or Ph.
D. graduate degree in engineering or science.
Familiarity with spacecraft solar arrays and the space environment
Familiarity with high volume manufacturing
Familiarity with terrestrial solar arrays
Enthusiasm for hands-on prototyping
Strong written and verbal communication skills
ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
