Position Summary
The Monitor Technician, under the supervision of an RN, will perform telemetry monitoring
Additional requirements include:
Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately.
Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in the patient's physical, mental, and emotional conditions to the nursing staff.
Tests equipment for proper working order.Reports equipment problems to the supervisor.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certifications/Licenses:
Handle with Care (HWC) within 6 months of hire/transfer.
Coursework in Medical Terminology and Telemetry preferred.
Minimum Work Experience:
Previous secretarial experience, preferably in a medical setting.
