    American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Tele position at an acute care hospital in Lufkin, TX, requiring telemetry experience and a valid TX or compact RN license.

    Responsibilities

    • Acute care hospital setting on a 24-bed Med/Tele unit (K4 - Kurth Tower, all Med/Surg Tele)
    • Patient population includes CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, CKD, and general Med/Surg Tele cases
    • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 6:1; PCTs on unit at a 12:1 ratio
    • Telemetry monitor techs are present, though RNs must be able to independently read telemetry strips
    • Manages patients on CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
    • Charting via Paragon EMR
    • 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
    • Every other weekend required
    • Holiday coverage is required
    • Floating required to all Med/Surg units
    • No on-call or standby requirement
    • 8-week contract
    • Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
    • Charge Nurse, House Supervisors, and Nurse Educators are available on the unit
    • Department orientation is completed within the Kurth Tower Med/Surg Tele unit
    • Scheduling is managed by the unit manager; block scheduling is not available
    • Navy blue scrubs required
    • Local candidates are accepted

    Requirements

    • Active TX or Compact (NLC) RN license required at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
    • Current BLS certification required — pending certifications not accepted
    • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
    • Telemetry unit experience required
    • Ability to independently read cardiac telemetry strips
    • Strong communication and time management skills
    • Driver's license required for consideration
    • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
