    Electrical Maintenance Technician

    Bluffton, IN Onsite, Permanent, Full Benefits MUST have 8 years INDUSTRIAL electrical experience, especially in trouble shooting, which will be the majority of the work, on equipment.

    Must have a JOURNEYMAN Card.

    Shift is nights from 3:30 pm-2:30 am hour shifts), Fridays are open to Overtime at 8 hours (1:00 pm - 9:00 pm) Employee is responsible for electrical and mechanical machine repair, machine wiring, power distribution, lighting, motor maintenance, and electrical maintenance.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Perform work in a competent manner with due safety considerations for self and others
    • Display positive attitude with consideration and cooperation of plant personnel
    • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe personal work area and shared facility space
    • Willingness to achieve Electrical Maintenance Grade 3
    • Accurately complete all documents such as job cards, inspection sheets, machine logs, work orders
    • Has authority to establish lock out/tag out procedure to equipment with assistance of qualified personnel
    • Practice IEC and NEC regulations
    • Run/install conduit, piping, and any other media to transfer energy
    • Run/install power from service panels and electrical bus bars
    • Maintain lighting (offices and facilities)
    • Implement schematics (electrical, pneumatic, lubricant and hydraulic)
    • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment, both mechanical and electrical
    o This list is not all inclusive (HVAC unit, water fountains, fork trucks, garage doors, scrap systems, machining centers, furnaces, washers, presses, feeders, transfers, parts catchers...)

    • Install new equipment
    • Able to navigate through operator interface on equipment
    • Assist other personnel in learning to operate equipment
    • Aid supervisors in identifying training needs
    • Develop a working knowledge of how presses function
    • Assist in the tear down and rebuild of presses and other equipment
    • Identify faulted plc's, drives, and other controllers and report to other qualified personnel
    • Responsible for all other duties assigned Basic Requirements and Skills:
    • Physical
    o Good eyesight and health to permit full time employment
    o Have good attendance within the company absenteeism guidelines
    o Ability to manipulate up to 90 lb. assemblies
    o Be able to climb up, into or under equipment
    o Be able to lift, bend, twist, walk and climb as required to perform the job.
    o Must pass the pre-employment drug screening
    o Able to do general cleaning and housekeeping tasks to keep the work area clean
    o Must have good written and verbal communication skills

    • Safety
    o Know and understand Safety Data Sheet requirements
    o Observes and complies with all company, federal and state safety and environmental policies and practices (i.e. when to use a safety harness or when to where appropriate electrical PPE)

    • Equipment
    o Must be able to use a multimeter
    o Must be able to use power/hand tools
    o Be proficient in use of measurement devices
    o Personal Protection Equipment
    o Must be able to use pipe bender and pipe threader

    • Skills
    o Ability to read, understand and edit schematics, blueprints, diagrams
    o Must be able to find manuals and troubleshooting guides (on the internet or on site)
    o Call vendors for trouble shooting assistance
    o Install, maintain and replace electric motors and test their operation
    o Must have a practical knowledge of fuses, circuit breakers, and thermal overloads, disconnects and their operation
    o Must have a practical knowledge of contactors, relays and solenoids and their operation
    o Setup and installation of basic AC/DC drives and soft starters
    o Comfortable working with voltages greater than 120vac
    o Disassembling and reassembling mechanical and electrical systems Education and/or
    Experience:

    • High School Diploma
    • 2 year Technical Degree in Electrical Technology or equivalent experience.
    • Journeyman Mathematical Skills:
    • Basic competency in high school math and writing

    Attendance and Reliability:
    Must provide proper notification and advance notice for non-emergency absences. Medical conditions must not jeopardize normal job/functional requirements.
